I am a semi retired Telecom engineer, born in England but have worked about 5 years in Germany and over 30 years in German speaking Switzerland. I am currently based near Lugano, and am often in my holiday flat in norther Italy, near Lago Maggiore.
Other interests
- I played the guitar for many years, but I have arthritis in my left hand which makes it impossible. I play the ukulele and have also built a couple. Arthritis is still a major problem.
- I play golf, mainly in Premeno, above Lago Maggiore
- Mountain walking; snow shoes; skiing
- Chess - I wrote a computer program to play chess about 30 years ago - nowdays I do a lot of online puzzles. I find actually playing a normal game - against an opponent of similar ability - rather stressful nowdays.
- Nutrition, weight loss and fitness - I manage to lose over 20kg about 10 years ago. It's really a fight to keep the weight off. Nowdays I am into the psychology of weight loss. Epigenetics looks really interesting
